Jim Waggoner, VP of Product Management at N-able, breaks down the latest updates from Adlumin’s February release notes. In this video, he explains how modern adversaries work to blend into normal activity rather than force a way in, and highlights new threat detections added for SonicWall and Fortinet next-generation firewalls. These detections focus on identifying malicious network behavior such as command and control activity and data exfiltration, supported by MITRE ATT&CK framework mapping and expanded detection details.
Jim also covers new Windows agent capabilities designed to monitor system time changes, which can reveal attempts by threat actors to manipulate timelines. The updated MDR summary report now surfaces the value of the SOAR engine along with automated AI-driven actions.
The video closes with insights into phishing awareness training, including recent research findings and Jim’s own experience with a simulated phishing test. He emphasizes the importance of recognizing emotional triggers such as urgency or pressure, not just visual clues, to help reduce the risk of successful phishing attacks.

From Break/Fix to Workflow-First MSP: Mark’s Plus One Growth Story
Mark joins host Chris Massey on Now That’s IT: Stories of MSP Success to share how his focus on solving workflow problems—starting at age 15 digitizing his dad’s paper-based processes—shaped his career and the growth of Plus One. He describes taking a $10,000 loan at 23 to buy a small computer repair shop, navigating early solo “survival mode,” and evolving from break/fix into an MSP with recurring revenue. Mark recounts hiring his first employee, Mike, the stress of supporting others, and a pivotal nationwide warranty depot contract that taught logistics, remote support, and helped fund the MSP transition. He explains lessons from unsuccessfully pushing the dental niche, the importance of saying no, stepping out of operations to drive sales/marketing and partnerships, investing in AI/automation as a competitive necessity, and setting a three-year goal to deliver the best customer experience in the country while protecting employees and clients in any eventual exit.

Static and Dynamic Tagging in N-central and N-sight
In this demonstration, N-able Head Nerd Jason Murphy shows how tag management helps teams organize devices, prioritize support, and streamline day-to-day operations across customer environments.
You will see how static and dynamic tags are used to identify VIP devices, track onboarding status, reflect SLA tiers, and create rule-based views that stay accurate as environments change.
In this video, you will learn how to:
Understand what tag management is and how it differs from custom properties
Create and apply static tags for use cases like VIP or executive devices, onboarding stages, SLA tiers such as gold or platinum, and “do not reboot” exceptions
Use static tags in the assets view to filter and quickly locate key devices across customers
Build dynamic tags that use rules and conditions to keep device groupings automatically accurate over time
Combine static and dynamic tags to automate workflows, such as moving devices out of onboarding based on tag changes
Use multi condition filters and dynamic tags to track compliance drift and build operational queues across your customer base
With tag management in N-central and N-sight, teams gain stronger onboarding control, tighter SLA alignment, and clearer visibility into critical assets to support more consistent and efficient service delivery.

Cove 26.2 delivers Critical Configuration Changes, the second feature in our Anomaly Detection story. This feature allows users to create event-based alerts for indicators of compromise in their backup policies, such as changed retention schedules, modified backup profiles, or deleted devices.
With real-time visibility into these changes, users can take just-in-time action to resolve them before recovery efforts are impacted. In this video, we walk through how to create your first notification and outline the main use cases this feature supports.

🛠️ Featured Tools & Resources
· N-able Ecoverse UI: Access via n-able.app to manage API tokens.
· Apollo Graph OS: A "Swagger on steroids" environment for live API testing and schema exploration.
· Developer Portal: Documentation and the GraphQL Explorer.
💡 Why GraphQL?
Traditional REST APIs often struggle with the "hundreds of data points" associated with a single RMM endpoint. GraphQL allows you to "ask a specific question" and return only the fields you need, significantly reducing payload size and increasing script efficiency.
